I often take notes in Notability then export them to Onenote as a PDF for storage. Notability is a better handwritten note taker, Onenote is a better data organizing tool (both are good for typing). Lastly, Notability is great for taking handwritten notes, or marking up PDFs - far better than Onenote or Apple Notes.

Onenote is the way to go if you want a full featured experience between an iPad and a Windows machine. Notability can only be accessed read-only, and only if you set up automatic backups as PDF or RTF files to a cloud service. Overall, Notes is probably the last product to use with Windows. You can access a little more functionality like text formatting and encrypted notes, you still can’t add attachments or pictures, and it’s slow as molasses. As I said though, this is limited to plaintext notes. I do this with an account, not sure if it should work with iCloud notes using iCloud for Windows (didn’t work for me). Notes is only usable on the PC if you use plaintext notes, this way you can access your notes in Outlook.
